Last thursday I and Pei-Chen went to Student Commons and we talked with Paul Robinson about advertisements. Advertisements do not disturb him. But when I said ‘Time Square in New York’ as an example, he said “it’s too excessive”. I’m writing the other questions and answers without changing. I’m not sure but the original sentences may be more useful.
Do you think that advertisements affect children more then adults?
Ofcourse.I mean children are impressionable. They tend to learn things they see.Especially on the TV and advertisements, something like that.So they grow up.They can be influenced by such things…I would say advertisements affect children more.
Do you pay attention to advertisements When you are watching TV?
Not all the time.May be rarely…I really do not pay attention commercials on TV a lot.I would say people pay attention actually when they are looking for something.
According to you are they a form of brainwashing?
I would not call brainwashing.
Do you think advertising influence our environment?
I’m not really sure if it is or not?Just because I mean you see advertising like advocating recycling or something like that. It would benefit the environment .Because it makes aware people those things. But as far as just product and services .I’m not sure it really does affect the environment.
